Water Resources Research Center (WRRC)

Established in 1957, the Arizona Water Resources Research Center (WRRC) is the Arizona component of a national network of state water institutes authorized by the 1964 Water Resources Research Act and as such administers the act`s 104 grant program. Located within the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences, WRRC operates within the UA's land-grant tradition, working with public/private organizations as well as with individuals to provide education and information services through outreach, conferences and symposia, and a publications program. WRRC's missions also includes providing expertise on state and regional water management and policy and facilitating communications between water researchers and the research users.

TRIF-funded programs at WRRC have included:

  • Expanded water education/outreach through presentations at the Legislature, broad distribution of the new Arizona Water Map poster and the bimonthly Arizona Water Resource newsletter, and participation in water resources meetings and forums.
  • Initiated a research project related to the role of the public sector and private enterprise in providing water to Arizona’s communities.
  • Coordinated joint activities and meetings of the four water center directors.
