Education & Outreach
All WSP-related projects
The Education and Outreach annual budget is now roughly $200,000 per year. This budget supports:
- training of 40 new Project WET (Water Education for Teachers) facilitators that ran workshops for 475 teachers, ultimately reaching over 25,000 students;
- expanding education and outreach efforts in central Arizona by adding a coordinator and support staff in Maricopa County;
- holding two "Make A Splash" Water Festivals on Water Education Day for 1,600 students in Safford and Surprise (including students from Dysart and Peoria);
- developing and running summer science camps (Camp Monsoon and Camp Wildfire) for middle schoolers;
- developing high school interdisciplinary curriculum modules for Student-centric Program for Learning About Semi-arid Hydrology (SPLASH) and training teachers in Pima, Maricopa, and Cochise counties;
- constructing a middle-school experiential education field trip site on riparian habitats at a botanical garden
